AWS Summit Sydney June 4-5

In the fast-paced world of live production, the pressure is always on. With tight timelines, complex designs, and rising venue costs, rigging teams are constantly seeking ways to deliver safer, faster, and more efficient builds without compromising creative intent. One system that’s stepped up to meet these demands is Eurotruss.

Designed for strength, speed, and simplicity, Eurotruss has been turning heads across the Australian production landscape. One company in particular, Harry the Hirer Productions, has been leveraging its capabilities across a range of high-profile projects. From exhibition halls in Melbourne to stadium shows in Sydney — and even ambitious builds like full-scale truss pyramids — Eurotruss has become a trusted solution for their rigging teams. Its combination of structural integrity and time-saving design has made it a go-to choice not only for Harry’s but also for production crews across Australia who understand the demands of live events.

A standout example of Eurotruss in action was the AWS Summit Sydney 2025, held at ICC Sydney. The event was produced by Imagination, a world-leading experience agency, with the AV component led by the powerhouse Herb Van Dalen of Imagination.

Harry the Hirer Productions is incredibly proud to have partnered with Imagination in delivering AWS Summit Sydney 2025. This year, in collaboration with AWS, the goal was more than just to inform — it was to inspire. To demonstrate the real-world impact of AI and AWS technologies, not just in theory, but in action. From show-stopping keynote moments to immersive, hands-on activations, the experience was designed to bring the future closer, making it feel tangible, relevant, and human.

Over two days, thousands of developers, business decision-makers, and industry leaders explored next-generation ideas in spaces like The Discovery Zone and The Proving Grounds — areas that proved how accessible and transformative AWS technology can be when bold ideas meet practical applications.

From a technical delivery perspective, Eurotruss played a crucial role in making it all possible.

Terrence Lowe, Sales Manager at Harry the Hirer Productions, explained:

“Thanks to the impressive spanning capabilities of Eurotruss HD44, we were able to minimise the number of motors required in the roof. This not only allowed for a faster and more streamlined install but also resulted in significant cost savings for the client — reducing the need to hire additional motors and cutting down on venue point charges. The strength and efficiency of the HD44 system meant we could execute the design vision without compromise, while still delivering under tight time and budget constraints.”

Lee Harrison, Head of Rigging for the project, added:

“The task and timeline on AWS were a serious challenge — over 300 rigging points in the roof and 2.2 kilometres of truss to install in just a day and a half. We utilised the spanning strength of the HD44 to push our spans out to an average of 12 to 18 metres, which allowed us to install significantly fewer points — and still remain well within safe working load capabilities. This smart use of truss design meant we could avoid unnecessary rigging and keep momentum on our side, allowing the team to move quickly and hit every set deadline that Herb and his crew gave us.”

At Harry the Hirer Productions , we’re always looking for solutions that not only meet the creative brief but also make sense on the ground — for safety, efficiency, and value. Eurotruss has proven itself as a system that performs under pressure and delivers where it counts.
